So, you just got an Instagram ad for something you were having a conversation about IRL. This most likely made you say, “Oh my god, that was so Black Mirror,” which then probably reminded you that it’s been a minute since we’ve seen any new episodes of the science fiction anthology. Here’s what we know about the future of the Netflix show that has you convinced your Alexa is working for the government.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news...but Netflix hasn’t said anything about the future of Black Mirror just yet. But rest assured. It keeps all the juicy Black Mirror secrets sealed tight until the last minute, so it probably doesn’t mean we’re not getting one. It just means Netflix is staying low-key.

Bandersnatch, the interactive, infinitely long episode of Black Mirror, was totally mind-blowing. It was also such a huge success that the show’s creator, Charlie Brooker, says they’d consider trying something like it again...even though it was a brutal process.

“While we were making it, we kept saying, ‘We’ll never do this again,’” Brooker told the Hollywood Reporter. “By the end, I was saying, ‘Oh, I’ve got an idea.’ It’s definitely something I would do again, and I think there are lots of ways to tackle it.”

Quick request: If they’re going to do another interactive project, can they give us a little longer to make decisions? I was sweating trying to choose a cereal, I can’t lie.

Speaking of Bandersnatch, producer Annabel Jones says it’s changed the way they approach the series...and might influence upcoming projects.

“I think Bandersnatch has proven [Black Mirror] can exist as a single film,” says Jones. “I like that idea, doing one. It’s interesting for us, and hopefully for viewers, to find other ways...other forms of storytelling in which to dramatize things, if they’re earned.”

Okay, so, I think we can safely assume that any new Black Mirror projects will be weird as hell? Sounds about right.

Whenever the eff Netflix feels like it, that’s when! LOL, I kid, I kid. But seriously, there really hasn’t been any pattern to Black Mirror releases in the past. Maybe fall? Maybe winter? Who knows! You’d probably have better luck trying to guess when your ex is going to hit you with their next spontaneous “miss u” text.
